University of Toronto – Hart House Great Hall
7 Hart House Circle, University of Toronto, Toronto

Ron Davis will be one of two musicians, along with the great French theatre composer and performer Jean-Jacques Lemêtre at this star-studded gala evening of theatre celebrating the Fiftieth Anniversary of The University of Toronto’s Centre for Drama, Theatre and Performance Studies. It is also the 150th anniversary of the Confederation of Canada, and the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s death.

The Play’s the Thing! celebration brings together a panoply of international and national theatre directors associated with the Drama Centre. They will transform the Hart House into a space of sensory delight staged in Shakespearean splendour. The professional talents of Johanna Schall, Herbert Olschok, Norbert Kentrup, Katka Schroth, Robert Lepage, Daniel Brooks, Kate Lynch, Ken Gass, and Colin Taylor will join those of renowned Drama Centre alumni and its current students in a presentation of newly imagined Shakespearean scenes and tableaux staged in a festive atmosphere of period musical interludes. The evening will conclude in the Great Hall with a Shakespearean banquet, making The Play’s the Thing into a truly unique experience for all of its participants.
